Why do you say that? The Archos7 can do pretty much all an iPad can do, if not more. And they have much more storage capacity. The Archos7 come in either 160GB or 320GB vs the iPad's 16/32/64GB capacity options.

And the cost of a 160GB Archos7 is $399 (can prob find cheaper).

Which as far as I know is cheaper than even the 16GB iPad. The only advantage I see to an iPad is that there are more apps available right now. But how much do you really need while you are DRIVING?

I will admit that they are nice and cost efficient. You honestly cant beat that price point right now. The link you have is to the one without Android and I would want the one with Android because I am already very familiar with it and like it very much.

ooohhhh, now I understand. You weren't saying android may be a deal breaker, you were saying that android 1.6 may be a deal breaker.

Here is a link to a review of the Archos 7 if anyone was interested in putting one in their Z.

Thanks man, looks like he still has a little more work to do but it looks good. I really dont want to cut things up or remove the Nav so I probably won't put one in my Z unless the iKit does ever come out.

You can just turn the lights off and use the iPad for headlights. Who says it can't multitask? Lol

That would royally suck to get decapitated by that poorly secured iPad during an accident.

Ya no kidding. I don't like how he has it just sitting in there. Not only that but an iPad isn't something I can go pick up with the money from my change jar so I wouldn't want it just falling out of there when I take off quickly.

i am contemplating the idea of installing a samsung galaxy tab into my Z , it will do everything plus way more than any head unit on the market. it currently runs android 2.2 and will probly be upgraded to the android 3.0 tab edition when available and for a cheaper price. I have a freind who owns a car audio shop and he said it would work. by putting in an inline volume control module i might even be able to wire it into the volume buttons on the steering wheel..

Have you seen the Motorla Atrix? It's a new dual core Android phone on AT&T that can "dock" into a display and controls set.

That'd be dope to rig up a 7" display with a USB touch overlay in the rider.

Should even do Google GPS!
