Default radio brackets/install question

Hey, just bought a new pioneer double din and have a question on how to install it. The previous owner of my z installed a single din kit, and it looks like the stock radio brackets are gone (haven't taken out center console to be completely sure, but I'm 90% sure.)

So, is there anyway to install a double din HU without those, or a kit that can replace them? Otherwise where can I buy them?

You'll need a face plate kit even if you had the stock brackets. Crutchfield and Amazon.com both sell them.

I understand that, but the metra kit would install the radio without the brackets? I thought it still needed them.

You will need the metal brackets and the square face face plate and also the iso spacers that fit in between the bracket and the H/u. I had an installer install my dd when my single din went to crap apparently the guy that put it in before kept the metal brackets, you can do it but it will be a pita mounting it and getting it in the right place so the face plate fits right. Imo your much better off finding a used set of brackets your H/U will be much secure and fit better.

That's what I planned on doing, just don't see anywhere that I can buy them. Guess a nissan dealer can order them?

Ah I had forgotten that the metal parts got recycled.

Yes, the newer models still have metal brackets but they are smaller and don't continue down as far as the older ones (in behind the HVAC box down below). Wreckers will have them but the dealer is most likely your best bet.
