Default Worth fixing a jl 300/2 amp?

I got a quote of $120 (including shipping back) for a flat fix from JL to fix the amp. From what I heard, the whole board is being replaced.

Is it worth fixing? Shipping to Florida from LA probably cost $15. It is a v1. One channel is not working with low ohm lid up.

So total cost for me is $135

They're just over $250 new on amazon.com. What's the warranty JL is offering on the rebuilt amp?

90 days.

I bought the amp off some dude which that guy lied about it working. I am already down $120. Trying to track that guy down (lives 15 miles from me). I tried knocking his door and he is hiding but thats another story, leaves a bad taste

Cheapest is 279 with tax since i am in LA.

90 days doesn't inspire much confidence, nor does the behavior of the guy you bought the amp from. Are you sure it's the amp? Try switching your speaker wires left<>right at the amp connection, and see if the problem is always on the same amp channel. There's always the possibility it could be a speaker or wiring short.

I did swap the channels like you suggested when i was troubleshooting. The guy who sold me the amp told me it is a mono amp . Once I told him its a 2 channel amp (slash 2), he said he always used one channel and that I might have damaged it. I was able to talk to him once but that was on the phone (he hung up and hided from me since).

In my younger days, this dude would been toast since i know where he lives. My maturity won't allow me to do dumb things now.

Too bad, and you're right about not needing to do something you'll regret over $120. I guess I'd probably buy a new one, or something similar. I've got two JL amps (250.1 and 320.4) in my '08 Z, along with one of their 10" subs, and I haven't had any issues. It's all only a few months old, though.
