Default 6-cd changer not working

The other day I went to turn on my CD player in my Z and it wouldn't come on. I pressed the cd-changer buttons but nothing worked. It kept reading 'Push Eject' and eject wouldn't do anything. Am I to assume that my cd player is broken? I called Nissan and they said that they want $3,400 because they said I would need a new head unit. How come on ebay I saw a 6-cd changer for my Z for like 200 bucks? Any suggestions???? Thanks.

You'll sometimes see them here for <$50. I find it hard to believe a dealer could quote $3400 with a straight face. As mentioned, it may be better to get a new aftermarket receiver, but be aware there are some issues with getting the Bose amps/speakers connected to some of them.
