stock alarm problems
I searched the forums and many of the alarm posts were in the audio/video forum, so i'll start here, but mods please place in the right place if it's not...
Anyone had issues with their key and setting off the alarm???
My key pad broke a while back, so i've only been using my key to lock/unlock the car. I'd say at least twice a week I go out to my car and when I unlock it with the key, the alarm goes off!
I then have to shut the door, lock it, then unlock it to shut the alarm off.
Any clue why the key would cause the alarm to go off? Is it possible someone is tampering with my car and this is just warning/or letting me know?
I'm stumped on what to do to fix this, or what is causing it?

Attached to your mechanical key cylinder in the door is an electrical switch. When you turn the key to the unlock position it should be sending a signal to the power window controller, which in turn sends a signal to the BCM telling it to disarm.
What I would do, if I were you, is just make sure you are holding the key in the FULL UNLOCK position for at least a second or so. Don't hold it too long though or the windows will start to come down. But, then again, if the windows start to go down then you'll know for sure that the alarm is disarmed!
You can pick up replacement keyfobs on Ebay for $20 or so and can program them yourself.

will try that. my keypad still works, but the attachment hook broke. super glued it back on many a times, but its useless. it's a pain to keep track of it in your pocket versus on the key chain.
