Question audio and video q's for you geniuses!

ok ....i am going to be purchasins and installing soon an all new system..first a few questions...im installing new fosgate components in front and new rear speakers and will power them with an amp..sorry if this is confusing but ive never installed any car stereo before...anyway, are the factory speaker wires ok to use or should i go through all the trouble of rewiring? if so what kind of wires?

ok now to the hard part. ill tell you what exactly im getting or have and i need your advice what to do..

1. head unit ( dont have yet, what kind of inputs or outputs do i need?)

2. probably the farenheight dvd player. ( what wiring do i need?)

3. xenarc or farenheight 7" screen ( does it come with necessary wiring?)

4. fosgate components in front and fosgate in rear( i think both are about 75-90 watts rms, can i use factory wires?)

5. one or two 10" subs, from the looks of it everyone is using jl's so i might get those.

6. i have 2 older amps, and 1 will be for the inside speakers and one will be for the sub/'s

Is that all i need? will everything work o.k? any advice, tips, or anything is appreciated greatly. please remember i am a complete idiot as to actual wiring of any of this but if you put your mind to it you can do anything right!

Mario, I had the same questions on the wiring. Do a search on my name in this forum and you'll find some good info. Basically yes you are fine with your current gauge wire.

I'd look in to a headunit with 3 pair of RCA outputs--front, rear, sub--so you have use of a fader. Factory wiring is fine for all speakers. I assume you are going to install the amps in the spot behind driver's seat? If so, just run new wire for rears (it's easy to do) and run speaker wires up to behind the h/u for the fronts. Get a headunit with an aux input. You can just patch in the sound output from the dvd straight into it without having to use a silly modulator. I installed a single JL 10w7 and it's like the perfect amount of bass--loud as **** in the car and you can barely hear it outside--low key.

look here:

look at grutter's response. And make sure that you realize that when he means max current he means amperage, not wattage.
