Default Audio question

Hi everyone i installed a pioneer amp GM-D9500F with some component pioneer speakers and i also have a pioneer headunit. I noticed that when i listen to the radio or ipod or cd i have to turn my headunit up louder than before when i just had the bose system installed. Before with the bose system but with the pioneer headunit i would go to 25 max everything would be clear and loud cd radio ipod. Now with all this new stuff installed i have to go beyond volume 35 plus more to get a nice strong sound and when i go up higher the volume barley increases the higher i go after 35. My pioneer amp's gain is set just barley after normal. Should i turn it up higher is this bad for the amp to have the gain set on max? And one more thing right now i dont have rear speakers im just using the fronts and tweeters would this make a difference why i have to turn up the volume on my headunit louder than before when i had the bose.

Audio questions are best answered in the audio forum. I know. Crazy isn't it.
