USAspec and Iphones and newer Ipods
If anyone installed the USA Spec PA10-NIS adapter on their Bose system (to interface audio system with Ipod), he/she might notice that it will not charge the Iphone and newer Ipods. If this is a concern, you have two choices: install the newer adapter (PA20-NIS) or simply update the interface cable connecting the Apple device to the adapter box. Per Joe in USA Spec tech support, one can order an updated cable from his company's customer service department for $20 plus shipping. Call (616)336-3836 and ask for part # CBPA85.
While I have no affiliation with USA Spec, I would like to say that the company provides a great product and even offers inexpensive upgrades. Other companies, Apple for one, appear to thrive on modifications with successive products that force customers into costly replacements.

Yes. If one gets a new interface cable, per Joe (@ USAspec), the PA10 will then charge the Iphone and the Ipod Touch. Like you, I have the Iphone 3GS and my original PA10-NIS will not charge it - hence my call to USA Spec on the subject.
