Custom Engine Grounding Kit + Transmission Ground

$79.95
I am still on the fence about what component speakers to get. As others have suggested, I am going component, I want to mount the tweeters in the windshield column above the sails. I also plan to dremel out the holes in the door panel covers.
I’d like to get probably a set of components that will complement the sub that I am putting in, I need some advice. Looking to spend around 350 on speakers and 2-3 hundred on the amp.
I’d like to mount the amps within the glove box, I’ll be looking for how others have made shelves/mounted them in there.
The only modification that I have made to this 2007 Enthusiast was a metal Undershroud cover from z-speed.com that I had to replace, the old one was smacking the highway.
The Previous owner put a nismo shifter in I think that was the only change he made...maybe I'll find others. I picked this silverstone 2007 6mt up for 18.9k otd with 36k miles on it with a 3 year powertrain warranty.
If anyone has advice on what components/amp to buy, or anything else that I am doing, please help me out. This is my first sound system that I am building, I do have Electronics experience as I work on Communications Electronics troubleshooting and repair for a living but I am looking for some input here.
Pics later, and when I do my installs.

save some dough.. i just bought a very nice box for th same sub from srq on ebay in mdf and f glass for 120 bucks.
I run wicked CAS door pods and Boston Pro 60Ses.. id reccomend those or a set of Focals.
The most $ i spend on one item is always my front speakers. Period.
Run a decent 120 dollar coax speakers in back, and youre all set.

i use the factory spots for tweeters and run the door pods.. make a big diffreence having them more on axis.. but i do run Aline imprint, which is a full "room tuning" and does time correction and levels everything.
buying Nazars sub box will gain you little versus the srq version.. buying his door pods versus running stock locations however does gain you far more, and are about the same as the price diff on getting the cheaper box. Install is simple, and far easier then dremeling all thsoe holes out, for little effect as well i may add.
I ahve been doing this a very very long time as well.

I am buying the 13.5 sub tho...will it fit that enclosure?
------------------------------------------------------------------
I just got off the phone with SRQ, they will change the mounting hole for the 13.5 I just have to state that in the comments block when I order. Man, you just made my day. Period. I wanted the pods too, but I didn't know about SRQ until today when I read that other post. I called wickedcas, they changed my order over to the door pods.
So yeah I'm excited. Now...if only I could pick out my component speakers/amp.

Now, say I get a JL300/4 amp to power whatever components I get. Will the cable upgrades be good for power or do I need a cap? Anyone have real world experience with around this kind of power draw?
SRQ just accidently autodialed me, while I was on the phone with them, I asked and they told me that they would add polyfill to the box when they make it for free, just to put it in the comments when I buy it. Boss.

Ok. I've settled on Polk MM6501 Components. I found them on amazon for 179 shipped. (Unless anyone can change my mind for near the same money I'm almost 2k deep in this now.) For an amp I'm looking at a JL 300/2v2 or a JL 300/4v2 I'm not sure about this. I'm not sure. I'm thinking I only need the 300/2v2 if I'm cutting out the rear speakers which is what was suggested on this forum (correct me if I am noob which I am.) I mean...after buying those I think I've pretty much bought everything I need to do this install? (aside from a cap if I need it.)
Also, are the Remote level controls reccomended for the bass amp and the component amp both or neither? Any experience? Owners, how much do you change your settings?

I'm running the MM6501's in Bing's Kickpanels. Sounds great no rattle and you don't even have to take the door apart to run wire.
Simple install but I lost my dead pedal (got used to it over time). Also running wickedCAS glove box with Image Dynamics ID10 sub, it hits plenty for me.
I suggest using RAAMAT (Raamaudio.com) vs dynamat, no smell, it's butyl rubber compound not asphalt based and I think it's cheaper. One order of BXT II was enough to enclose the stock location and rear panels. I still have sheets left over.
Be prepared to take a few days for this install, I had to remove my seats to get all that deadening material inside into the right locations.
I have a 07' as well, head unit wise maybe the Pioneer AVH4200 or 4300 would be a good choice, fits nicely with a American International kit, no need to dremel and it will not hit the kit while ejecting.
Amps - I used just home depot mdf and wooden dowels to make posts. I used the piece of square carpet material that comes inside the glove to trace the outline on the wood, cut 2 pieces, cut the dowels with a gap so the amps can circulate some air and offsetted and for easy adjustment. Added carpet just for looks even though it's inside the glove.
Amp Rack - 2 Phoenix Gold Xenon's 100.2 and a 400.1 , crossovers mounted behind the amp. Careful not to overpower the crossovers too much, they can melt (~_~).

Amp Rack inside glove (wires are a little messy)

Amp Rack Dowel/Offset post carpeted

Bing's (16psibrick) Kickpods (Most hassle free install)

Very nice looking install. Where'd you get the carpet, and did you drill through the glove box walls for wiring? I was considering putting the sub amp inside the cavity somewhere maybe attached on top of the sub box so the sub box cannot be removed without first taking the amp off the top? Not sure how much space there is in there cause I haven't opened it yet, it can't generate more heat than stacking two of them on carpet.
I like the kick panels, but I'm not sure if that's for me, I'm 6'1 with size 13 feet, my leg room is at a premium.

I bought the carpet from a local car audio shop, you can just ask to buy a few yards from any shop. You will have to take the whole glove box the amp rack is secured using a metal brace I locked down. I wouldn't suggest mounting the amp with the box, just so you can adjust and tune it to your tastes; ease of access as well. The sub box you're getting may or may not need deadening material, I was scared of rattling so I put the stuff everywhere.
You're going to have to take most of the paneling off, just search the DIY rear panel removal and you should be fine.
Leg room is a minus with the kicks.

I mean, how often do you tune your sub amp? I would think that it would be a one time thing, I was going to use the procedure on the 350zwiki site with the audio file you download or whatever.
Anyone have experience with mounting the tweeters in the door air ducts?

I have Focal K2Ps components, their tweets are off axis. Blew a mid range (6 1/2") a couple weeks ago. Replacing with Hertz Mille, will have to play with tweets to see if hey will sound better on/off axis
Still pondering on where to mount the amps.
One is going in the glove...fo sho. I have limited power tools, so I'm not thinking I can build a rack. I could put them side by side and remove the bottom tray, which should bring some air into the cubby...but I think that would just get too hot. Someone said beneath the glove box, so maybe I could put one under and one in? Maybe behind the seats? But someone said that is too hot as well. We'll see. Maybe on the backside of the strut up sideways on the wall? That would be pretty visible though. I've been searching and searching, people said they were going to do these things, but no later reviews...so I guess no ones overheated and died. Of course, I'll only be mounting a 360/2 and a 500/1 so maybe I won't have a hell of a lot of heat? I'm going to put the xovers in the doors, probably put the power block somewhere totally inaccessible under the glove. Anyone installed in one of these locations with something similar have feedback?

That SRQ box with sub is maybe 30 lbs? Is that pretty heavy considering it's only be held by one side? Was the install difficult for the same reasons?
Yes, the box with sub was very heavy. Install wasn't too bad, had to put matting on top, when the sub fired it was kicking the box up into the top of compartment. I did blow out a 60a fuse when I ran the bass test and turned it up almost all the way. I'm gonna go pick up an 80 from the audio shop tomorrow. Overall, it's loud, and has punch. I can't compare it to one hitting the back glass as I haven't heard one. But if it was any louder, I wouldn't like it, so that's enough for me.
Now to wait for my door pods and put in these new alpine spr-60c's in.
-BTW Thanks for all the advice and help.

I asked because i thought you had already installed it. Mine arrived the same time yours did and you're right, installation was NOT good. It didn't fit right and i had to file down certain areas of the wood for it to fit. Also, it's heavy! The bass is 'muffled' and does not hit has hard as my Zenclosure corner box I was running. But since I needed more trunk space, I may run this setup for a while

I noticed the muffling...and a LOT of rattle at high volume... the only thing I can think of is to put polyfill in the compartment around the sub, and to put it under the snap in plastic panels...anyone have a fix for this?
