Default nav screen

hey everybody, new the board. Just got my new 04 z touring. I have a couple of questions. Love the car, hate the sound system. Was thinking about getting a new head unit. Will it work with my exisiting factory navagation? also was looking into the nav tv. But before i go that route, is it possible to just by a new screen and dvd player and have it work with the exisiting nav? Thanks for your input. Great board!

The existing NAV system uses an RGBS video signal.
To keep the existing NAV CPU would require you to find a display that can receive RGBS, or a device that can convert RGBS to the format of your new screen.

This ain't an easy or inexpensive task.

Also, it sounds like you will want to video sources:
Video 1: NAV
Video 2: DVD

Check out my web pages for my experience w/ a similar attempt:

I tried several things, and I finally removed the entire factory nav and stereo and replaced both with an ITX PC with a 7" Xenarc touchscreen (plus a new stereo).
This was, sadly, the simplest solution in my opinion!
I have no complaints!

I removed my bose head unit and amp last week and am willing to sell them.

You do know that it will be very difficult to do a fresh install of these things in the Z, don't you?
