Lightbulb Upgrading stock Bose systems

To me, stock Bose system is pretty weak, especially in the base department.

My knowledge in car audio is limited at best, so I called a local shop. They are planning on:

- Keeping the stock speakers and tweets
- Install an amp + sub
- Rewire, and "tune" the speakers

I am not sure if this sounds legit? The shop claims the result would be astonishing.

Here are the parts + $ they are using and charging:

Jl Audio Amp - XD600/1 $250.00
JL bass control **** - HD RLC (control for the amp for more or less bass) $20.00
JL Sub and custom box - CP108 (8" sub in custom ported box $229.00
wiring - 60.00
labor - 180.00
parts - 40.00

Can someone please pitch in and suggest of the if above makes sense?

I don't know what the hell they're talking about when it comes to rewiring and "tuning" the speakers, but the BOSE system is a closed system and doesn't take kindly to modification. I know. First hand. It sucks. It gets expensive to tinker with the factory setup and isn't worth it in the end.

If you decide to take a trip to Seattle, shoot me a PM. I'd be happy to give you a quick walk-through of what's involved in modifying the craptacular BOSE system. (I tried a JL-Audio Cleansweep setup with limited success). After a lot of soul-searching, I finally ended up dumping the entire Bose factory setup and re-did everything with JL-Audio amps & speakers and a JVC headunit. It turned out great.
