Default Components?

So I just graduated high school, and my grad present is going to be a new sound system for my car. I'm going to be getting a Stealthbox and I want to know what kind of amp I need to power that thing. Its two 500 rms 4ohm subs wired to a 2ohm mono, I'm assuming I need to get a mono amp that is 1000+ rms. The current amp I have selected is this. My current setup is mostly stock with this headunit that I installed. As of now, all the speakers play the full range of audio, which means my sound distorts if i ever go above 30. Is it safe to guess that the Bose HU had a built in crossover? I need one of those as well, I think, and have picked out this one. Any suggestions/comments would help. Ahhhh, one more thing, do I need a capacitor for this or will a upgraded battery cover it?'

Edit: After searching around some more I found some more possible amps, which would be best?

I have a lot of input but I will try to keep it short.

1. Change your head unit first. Do not try to build a nice system off a stock head unit. Your set up will never reach its full potential with the BLOSE!

2. JL Audio Stealthbox=good. JL 1000/1 to power that box=you will be happy.

3. Make sure you buy high quality components for the front to keep up with 1000 watts worth of bass. Buy an amp that's power output matches your components power handling.

This is only a start. Have some one who knows car audio very well help you map out your whole system before you start this. As far as crossovers go you can get away with using the amps crossovers that are built in and the crossovers that come with the components that you must buy. But, it all depends on your whole set up. Do not buy WALMART amp wiring kits.

AS far as a capacitor......mixed reviews everywhere. Can't hurt though. Before you worry about switching out that battery worry about your alternator.

Headunit you picked should be ok...JL stuff = eargasm, so good there...but save yourself some dough and research ohms law and stuff. I would take your 4 ohm subs and wire them in parallel...this will make whatever amp they're hooked up to "see" 2 ohms...so out of the three choices you picked, if you want a solid 1000w rms, I would pick the last one. It can push out 1000w rms x 1 @ 2 ohms. That's almost exactly what I'm doing, just not as many watts. I'd worry about a capacitor later if your headlights and dash are dimming bad with every hit lol.

Haha, thanks everyone, I've come up with a new setup though, much more powerful.
Sub x2 - http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...****-124X.html - will be wired in 1ohm parallel
Amp - http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...MF55001-D.html - 3.2k rms at 1ohm
Cap - http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...ik-PCX-5F.html
Primary Batt - Optima Yellow Top
2nd Batt - http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...-KHC-1200.html
Crossover - http://www.crutchfield.com/p_20603KX...arch=crossover (already own) - is that actually necessary?
Headunit - http://www.crutchfield.com/p_158GT93...930ui&skipvs=T (already own) - currently installed.

i know this is your setup but you asked for some advice. i would do more research if i was you.

i will start by saying, do not buy that garbage power accustik stuff. also ditch the cap. they are garbage. sink that money into a high output alt. you gonna also wan't to get some nice 1/0 wiring.

also where you gonna fit two 12s? they way your talking your looking for spl, so don't buy a seal enclosure have a nice ported box built.

check out some of the other threads in the audio section and gather some more info on quality equipment.

Are you trying to put this car in db competitions? Seriously, that stuff is probably garbage...a 5500W amp for less than $300? Lets be real here, it's probabaly not pushing NEARLY that much. I guess to each their own, but I'd hate having a system like that. To me it seems like you're just trying to go as loud as you can go as cheaply as possible. You get what you pay for. Please take some more time and buy quality pieces of equipment. If you want to go loud as crap, save up for the good stuff and drop $3k+ in it. You can have a QUALITY, still booming, system with a fraction of the power. Think...ACOUSTICS. That kind of system would probably hound in my Excursion with the right box...and you wanna cram something like that in a Z? Have fun keeping your volume cranked all the way down to keep your wheels from rattling off. Just my .02...but good luck with whatever you install!

To put it in perspective...

Price. Quality. Decibels.

Pick 2.

These lines can be blurred to a point, but when I mean decibels, I mean "hardly able to sit in the car" decibels. Once you're able to be happy with the 2 you picked then you're good to go. I picked Price and Quality...I wanted rich clean mids and highs with a crisp hitting bass that wouldn't break the bank...I didn't care if it rattled my brain. Hope this helps. Good luck

So then its like choosing women... Looks, Smarts, Personality. Is PA a bad brand or something? I want at least 2k rms, 1 on each sub. Would you guys have any better choices?

hahaha, I only wish it were that easy to pick/figure out women my friend! I will be honest, I don't know much about the brand, but I wouldn't think you'd gain quality sound...and may I ask as to why you want 2k rms? What's the point? Are you trying to win db competitions? Bragging rights to say you got 1k to each sub? I'm just saying, for the Z to get some serious bang you could run half that to your ENTIRE system, not just the subs. I've read around on here and there's plenty of guys that have actually DOWNSIZED their systems because it's turned out to be too much. Not to say some guys don't love that super loud bass! I'd say if you want gut wrenching bass then shoot for some high wattage and a dual voice coil type sub from a reputable company...if you want crisp quality sound with some solid thump, I think you could take a different approach. I definitely don't know everything...hopefully some other guys can chime in and point you in the right direction!

pa is JUNK.

contact 350zspl on here he has probly the most knowledge on here?

look at some of these brands. dc audio, sundown audio, fi audio, incriminator audio, tc sounds, soundsplinter, digital designs, audioque. for subs.

audioque and crescendo make good amps for cheap.

you seem to have about zero car audio background. so i would advise in alot of research. also list your goals for your stereo. that will make it much easier for people to give you advice and don't listen to the local car shops.

One of my friends is running a re audio xxx on 1.5k rms, I love it, I want more. Hahahahaha, The rest of the speakers will also be upgraded in due time. And keep in mind, sonic electrics has unheard of prices, but the quality is still there.

Sonic Electrics is just a website/dealer. Doesn't mean "quality" is stamped on every product they sell. Nothing we are saying seems to be sinking in, so just do what you want. If you plan to upgrade your other speakers "in due time" then be prepared to have a system that sounds like garbage with nothing but bass. If you think for one second that those little clarion/bose speakers that come stock can keep up with that kind of subwoofer power, you're nuts.

Yea, I know they won't be able to keep up, but I'd rather go ahead and get the big parts first.

not sure what car you friend has his system in but that will play a big roll on how it sounds/loud it will get. the 350z is pretty easy to get loud to a point. also the xxx is more of a sq woofer that gets loud and it's not even on rms power.

if you really wanna get loud message 350zspl.

i will post a few pics of my messy lookin z. im also going for loud but still playing the low notes. i like alot of air movement.

also just letting you know your gonna have to remove your spare tire and things if you want the room to get loud.

also i'm almost positive you will get your 350z louder then his truck on the same amount of power. you could do less and be around as loud as him i'm sure.

also custom built to spec ported box made. do not put a nice driver in a prefab box.
