Question Installed V1 : The radar won't shut up !

I just installed my V1 in the hatch below the brake light with the concealed display in the front above the rear view. . . I have a problem.

The V1 is beeping all the time. Not constant. . . but I will be driving down a road with nothing around, no buildings, no other cars, nothing. . . . and the V1 will just start beeping for no reason.

I changed the "R" to "L" and even the other setting. . . and nothing changes.

Has anyone else had this problem? It's sooo ridiclous.

It's not the same areas. .

I don't have NAV. . .

I realize it will happen in commercial areas due to security on buildings. . but what irriates me is that I will be driving down a highway in the middle of nowhere with nothing around, and it will be going off periodically.

What setting does everyone usually leave it on? "R" "L" or that lower case "L"

Capital L. That's the Logic mode that filters out most of the noise. You may just live in an area with lots of stray noise. What band is the detector going off on? If it's X, setting it on L should quiet it down quite a bit.

Yes, it is the X band. I will leave on the Capital "L" for a few days and see how it goes.

My other problem. . . I set the Main Dial for the master volume. . . and the secondary dial for the volume on the beeps after the inital beep, and it's no different. Think this is a hardware issue? or am I not doing something right? I went by the directions :-(

Too bad you can't just disable the X band like you can with the 8500. Would be an easy fix for you.

Maybe you got a faulty one. Send it back for an exchange.

I wouldn't want to attempt to disable the x band. This is my first detector i've ever had. . . maybe i'm just not used to it :-)

Does anyone have any tips on setting the secondary volume control for after the inital beeping comes in

Default L

L is for full Logic mode. This should be the quietest mode and it is what I use.

As for the secondary volume control, the V1 does not auto-mute. To get the detector to switch to the muted/quieter volume setting you need to tap the volume dial (press it).

If that doesn't work your unit may be defective. If so, Valentine will fix it for free.

Do you have a security system in the car that uses a proximity sensor? If so, these sensors use radio frequency to determine if there is movement around the car. If the sensor is on all of the time it could set off a radar detector.

Can u post a pic of ur mounting position, I notice mine would set off radar alert if I take a flashlight and point it directly at my new auto dim rear view mirror. Also since I mainly drive around suburb which set off the detector every 1 min since we got shopping mall every block around here I just mute the radar detector entirely and put the conceal display infront of the windshield to alert me.

I have nav and my V1 very rarely false alarms, especially when I am not around strip malls and fast food joints.

I set mine to the second setting and it works great. Of course I get false alarms in the city areas, but that's a small price to pay for when it actually pinpoints an officer. Don't forget, you have to tap he volume button to bump the volume down to the secondary dial setting. If I'm in an area flodded with radar, I turn the main volume down for a while.

Jor. . I will get some clips of my positioning this afternoon.

I have a few errands to do today, I will play with the settings and see if I can quiet it down a bit.

Thank you everyone for your help with this !

I'm not sure if the X Band is something I want to play with. Better safe than sorry :-)

Hey Nissan350z. . . from your avatar, it looks like you have a different light rather than the stock amber in your headlight. . . what is that? Looks very clean.
