The fact that the "port" is just a hole in the box means it's not tuned, but you should be able to find a port to to fit in that hole depending on your woofers specs.

If it doesn't have any air leaks and the dimensions are adequate for your woofer, just add a proper port and I'd imagine it'd sound pretty good. The construction looks pretty decent.

I'm going to be buying this box soon (srq) What size sub did you put in yours?
I have read that the jl audio 13tw5 is a good fit for the size but if there are other options I sure would like to hear about it
Thanks

Personally, I'd avoid any sub that sits directly behind the driver seat. If I were you, I'd buy the JDM plastics, move the sub to the passenger side, and have the cubby behind the driver for the amp. Even then, it'd be annoying for me. I like to avoid the stupid vibrations.

I have one as well. I found the fit wasn't spectacular, as I had issues getting some of the bolt holes to line up, but overall it wasn't a huge deal. The bass is definitely acceptable for the price.

I put an Alpine SWS-1043D in it running both coils on separate channels for 300watts. That driver fits very nicely.

i have it.
Its not ported.
Its too small for the jl13tw5 at 6 cuft.
Requires .8 cu ft.
That sub rocks the plastic panels violently.
The sound is quite non linear even w Alpine Imprint tuning.
I ran it for 2 weeks before my engine blew, and i ahve already ordered the spare tire well box from a guy on ebay cut to fit the 13tw5.

This all changes if you are looking at it for a convertible Z, then you have to comprimise anyways.

Side note, i installed mine on the psngr side so it was farther away from me.. still, not the best idea. Unless you had a sub meant to run in .6 cu ft and did alot of silicon work behind the plastic panels.

I have a roadster, and thats the box I'm looking at buying (srq). I was looking at buying the jl 13tw5. It sounds like it to much sub for that box, so I'm now looking at the Alpine SWR-T12 sub. The spec's say 0.6 cubic ft or bigger, so that sould be fine with the sqr box.
Anybody running Alpine SWR-T12 sub that could give me a review?
ant other sub recommndations?
thanks

yeah as much as i hate to do it becuase i die by JL audio....
its just too small.. you can tell its too small.

It sounds Fine.. but its not anything near what it should be.
Nazars box in fiberglass is far better quality, and is the proper size .8 ft cu.

IF you can, buy two and do them on both sides, then you can use the crossover and eq to smooth it out. put your amps in the trunk. or under the seats.

I have mine in a spare plastic trunk behind my seat in that spot.

.2 cu ft is nothing some polyfill couldn't take care off. As far as the vibrations, that's nothing that some sound deadener couldn't solve.

There may be better enclosures out there, but I'm not really familiar with Z-specific enclosures.

nah, thats a myth, im a big sound, mobile sound and pro sound guy. It changes the curves of old school subs to be more like that of the larger box, but it doesnt take the place of the actual airspace.. especially on a small box sub like this.
Or id just do what you posted and leave it be.. but it aint the best route,

is it doable? for sure.. but i have to throw my experience in so ppl can gauge if they want the box or not.
A pros opinion of owning the box etc etc.

Well I wasn't looking at this from the perspective of a top of the line SQ experience. It's a roadster, so that route is completely out the window

It sounds like I won't get the best bang for my buck with the jl 13tw5 sub. Why waste 350$ when it sounds like I could get the same sound out of the alpine 12" slim sub if not better with the srq box, and it's about 120$ cheaper
