Components in Door Panels
Hey guys, I was searching the forums but couldn't find the answer. I actually own a g35 but my friend owns a 350z. I put together a pretty good sound system in my g and now want to do something with his Z. I wanted to install components in the front but according to crutchfield the door panels are very shallow and only a thin speaker will fit in their. Is this true?
He is biased towards Polk and wanted to get some Polk audio components.
Also just a side note - seems to me that replacing the rear speakers is probably a waste of money and a set of good components and a sub should do the job well. Or does replacing the rear help with staging?

I have Polk components in my doors. I used the stock speaker as a spacer. You have to rip out the cone and snip off the basket/magnet assembly and you have free spacers. Or you could just fab up some spacers out of MDF.
I don't run rear speakers and it sounds good to me with my components and a 10" sub.

Thanks for the info guys, this really helps. If you have any pics/suggestions/etc, let me know. I think the game plan is all polk right now, front components, and a 10" sub as well. He already has a Class D 1000w mono amp. Post pics along the way.
