I wasnt saying you were lying to me. I meant maybe the cop was lying to me about my speed. Sorry, its hard to understand you sometimes. where you from?

I'm debating on putting it where the nav system would be, but am afraid of that being a ton of work...not to mention, I don't want another antenna on the car. Anyone install non-portable police scanners?
What is the model of your scanner? How much did you pay at the time? Can you post some pics....maybe we can figure out

Nice gadgets but like I mentioned before they would have done me no good when clocked from the air, and the scanner would not have helped as FHP has gone to digital and soon all cops will be on digital so the scanner is no good.

I just use my eyes and my 200 dollar cordless escort, and that leaves me plenty of money for the lawyer to take care of tickets and keep my record clean.

If you're concerned about digital radio transmissions, you can buy the new Uniden BC-250D scanner, which not only handles trunked radio systems but also APCO-25 and EDACS digital systems, which are slowly gaining popularity around the USA. In fact, the LAPD here in SoCal uses APCO and this scanner decodes all transmissions without a problem.

The scanner IS expensive, though - about $400 for the scanner, plus another $250 for the APCO decoder card.

Radar typically isn't used from airplanes. If the local PD or highway patrol uses planes, they clock your speed by timing you over a known distance, i.e., 1 or 2 miles, and calculate your average over that distance. If your calculated speed is over the limit, they radio to a ground unit to have you pulled over.

Exactly, although the distance is shorter, the lines painted on the highway seem to be about 1/4 mile apart.
