Lightbulb Laser & radar jammers & Police scanners

Do you have one?

How much did it cost?

What model?

How often do you use it?

How well does it work? (personal experiences, tests, research)

Default Jammers etc.

First things first, NONE of the passive radar jammers work. they have been tested time and time again. They do not work.

Active radar jammers can work, but they are very illegal. It is a felony to operate one. (purposeful interference of radio signals, broadcasting on reserved frequencies, etc.) No joke.

Good active laser jammers can work, but how well they work depends alot on the install and on the location of the cop when he fires the laser.

is laser a "band" ..meaning..will my V1 pick it up from far away like it picks up K, Ka and X (and it does that well i might add)

or is a laser something that is only detected once it is fired/?

Laser is basically a light beam that has a very narrow beam unlike radar which gets to be very wide at long distances, therefore if you get a laser warning it basically means they got you.

Sort of.

It is true that IFF the cop aims carefully, waits until you are in range, and pulls the laser trigger then you are caught.

But in real life it works a little different. The laser is scattered by moisture and particles in the air and the beam spreads. If he shoots at anyone in front of you there is a decent chance you will see a warning. Also, if he shoots at you but misses at first you can recover. He will either hold the trigger, or aim and fire again.

Also, he can "miss" even if his aim is decent. Some parts of the car do not reflect well. For example, if his beam hits your headlight but the headlight is on, he might not get a reading at first.

I have been saved AT LEAST 4 times with my V1 laser detector. Three times it went off with no cop in sight only to see a cop a few second later. (farther down the road, must have been shooting at someone in front of me).

Once it went off, I stood on the brakes, then it went off again. By the time it went off the second time I was near 55. I think he was shooting at me both time, but I think he mssed the first time and saw 55 (or close enough) the second time.

My firebird was really hard to clock with laser. It was black with fold-down headlights and no front plate. I had a buddy of mine (a cop) try to clock it and he said it was tough to get a lock until it was realy close. I suspect my Z Roadster is EASY to clock since it is silverstone and the headlights are HUGE and covered in chrome. Oh well.

I had V1 detector and Escort ZR3 Laser Jammer. Both things make a perfect protection and save me EVERY times. Those things save me a lot of tickets, although V1 had a detection for laser. But it's not 100% for laser guns, After I have V1, I still got 2 speeding ticket by laser. Than I add ZR3. It really works. sometimes when ZR3 "Bees" my V1 don't have any response. After half mins, I see a cop useing laser gun and poing my diretion. Now I had them together for 1.5 year, I didn't get any tickets. It's worth to buy. Take off the licens plate doesn't help, My Z don't have front licens plate since I buy it, I still got tickets by laser..(before I had ZR3 )...
So my point is: V1 is a perfect protection for Radar guns, and ZR3 is a perfect protection for laser guns.
Escort ZR3 is the topest Laser Jammer on the market now. They had other models which combine Laser Jammer and Passport radar dectetor(SR7). But personerly, I think V1 is the best radar dectetor. It's better than passport. But Escort had good laser jammer. So i put V1 + ZR3 on my car.

u can find ZR3 from ebay, I got it from there. I pay $340
I found one on ebay and $280 only...
Escort ZR3 on ebay

did you "connect" it with your V1 or did you just hook up both seperately..because on the homepage it talks about connecting with other detectors...

hido7,

I currently have an escort 8500 and am very happy with the detector. Can you take a few pictures of your install including the front bumper and rear bumper where the sensors are mounted. Drilling into my front bumper is the only thing that's holding me back from this purchase. I would just like to see a complete install before hand. Thanks!

Yea, I installed my V1 first, than when I got ZR3, I just combine it's wire to V1's power line. They both are 12V power---two wires : one for + and one for ground.
The adding Radar detector function on ZR3 is just for Escort detector. So they can work together by just useing the ZR3's tiny display. It won't work if connect to other brand's detector. So my V1 and ZR3 isn't connect together but power line.

Sure! I'll post my pics. But have to wait a few days. Because I will buy a digital cam within these few days. I don't have one yet.

To install sensor to rear bumper isn't big deal, I just mount them with my rear licens plate. But the front bumper is hard. I give up to follow the method from user's manu. I just use a 3M strong double face tape on the back of sensors. It's easier than drilling into front bumper and it won't fall. So no drilling, and it's safe. I'll post some pics that include 3M tape ...

sounds liek we need to do a group buy on the ZR3...
I currently have a Valentine. Unfortunately it DID NOT work, and i got a speeding ticket. Now I think he may have been using a laser. OR he was just lying.

Im also interested in your install. When you get the camera take some pics of the outside and the display unit.

I need some more anti ticket gadgets. If you have something post up your pics so we can see.

Well....I won't get any benefit by lying this to you..Just wait for a few days..I will buy a digital camera and post pics....I had spend $1010 on anti ticket gadgets. This is the result I got after I install them. Plus, Valentine does do a great job. It save me every singal time, except Laser.

I have a police scanner that's sitting and unhooked at the moment. Cool thing is that it's an older one with no restrictions on badnwidth so I'm able to pick up old cell phone's and cordless phone's by scanning in the 900mhz range. I'm debating on putting it where the nav system would be, but am afraid of that being a ton of work...not to mention, I don't want another antenna on the car. Anyone install non-portable police scanners?

I got one. At my spending of $1010 on anti ticket gadgets, it include V1 $400, Escort ZR3 $340, Uniden BCT-12 (Highway Patrol Warning System) $270. Bct-12 is a tiny scaner unlike others. It's size just like a radar dectetor. I replace the factory antenna to a small high gain antenna. Well, it does give me lot of info from cop's talking, but not very helpful for detect a laser or radar guns. I use it just for in case, at my area, sometimes cops just hiding and trap people. They don't use radar gun or laser. They just use undercover cars to trap people. I can always avoid it by listen BCT12.

I install it with my V1 too. same wires.

I'll post pics
