Best bang for your $ Subwoofer
I am probably just going to buy 1 10" subwoofer to put in the stock location. I don't need anything too crazily loud, but im young and i like to blast it every once in a while. Whats the best bang for the buck 10" subwoofer? I'm hoping a few of you out there have experimented with different subs to see which one produced the best sound.
Thanks,
Alex

I bought an Audiobahn AW1006T from ebay for $95...
http://ikesound.com/product-product_id/1434
900watts rms
dvc
2" surround
aluminum cone
I'm going to be building a fiberglass enclosure for it over the next month or so. It's gonna be unique, I haven't seen any design like it before

Checkout the JLIB4 10" Free-Air Subwoofer. I picked a new one up on ebay and had a local installer put it into the stock location. Make sure to have your installed seal up all the air holes in the stock location with silicon, use dynamat, polyfill, and weatherstrip the Nissan Bose Subwoofer Cover. I've had mine for about 2 months now and no new rattles have shown up and the bass is decent.

Just get a JL 10W0 or JL 10W3v2...you should be able to find the JL 10W0 for about 100 bucks, and the W3v2 for about 170.
The good thing about the W0 is that it only needs 125 watts rms to run it...its a single voice coil. It hits really nice...if you go with the W3v2 it will hit harder...check out jlaudio.com for more info. Also if you can find them(last year of production) try and get a JL 10W6AE...these hit HARD! DVC...250 watts rms!
But also look at Alpine Type R's or Type S's...these hit pretty good.
Infinity's are power hungry...great subs...but require lots of power.
Eclipse Alumminum's are nice...but again lots of power needed.
MTX are good alternative...good spl for the money...best bang for the buck.
Hope this helps.

Elemental designs subs are AWESOME...especially for the price. Also check out Image Dynamics IDQ v.2 or ID v.3. All incredible subwoofers for less than $150. Excellent SQ, can get quite loud, don't need con-ed under your hood to run them.

OK i just got back from this audio store near me called Audio Express. I told the guy i had a JL 10w6ae ( i ordered it today btw) and he was like "ohhhhhhhhhhhh wow. I'll have to check with the guys in the back for what kind of amp for that" So after talking to the guys in the back they had no idea either because they dont sell JL. Anyway he said i needed to show them some impotence number or something and i'm not seeing that on JL's website.
Anyway, any of you Audio experts out there know a perfect amp for a JL 10w6ae? here's the stats:
Nominal Diameter: 10 inches (250 mm)
Continuous Power Handling: 300 Watts
Voice Coil: 2.5" diameter, 4-layer, Kapton former
Available Configurations: Dual 6 ohm
Xmax (one-way, linear): 0.47" (11.9 mm)
Sealed Enclosure Range: 0.40-0.80 cu.ft. (11.5-22.5 liters)
Ported Enclosure Range: 0.90-1.25 cu.ft. (25.5-35.5 liters)
VRC™ Technology: NO
Thank you very much.

Impotence.. LOL oh boy, sorry. I'm sure he means impedence. Impedence is measured in ohms so just look on the box for that.
