Aux In ...Idea
I currently have an FM Mod. for my XM Radio of which we all know doesn't sound that great. With the Bose radio, would it be possible to open the unit up and hook it up directly? Here is what I am thinking... Find the RH and LH channels "in" for the CD player.( tough part because I don't have a diagram for the radio) Then solder the wires to the board giving me my "in". Then to play my XM, I would put in a homemade blank CD.. ??? Think this would work? Also maybe install a switch to be able to turn off the "in" for XM when listening to regular CD.
Just a crazy Idea..........

I wouldn't bother, since it's likely the HU may not even use compatible connections, and it's even more likely that the headunit will get messed up and you'll have to buy a new one anyway. Just buy a new one.
if your good at electronics, then you should try it. I've seen something similar for bose Auxillary input through the cd, however you lose the ability to use the cd player. I think your best bet maybe to do what O.Z. said and use the tape adapter. It should work just as well. If you dont want the wires and stuff hanging out you can take off the face, put the tape in and route the wire behind the console. Hopefully you dont play tapes.
good luck!
