mp3 player in z?
does the z come with an mp3 player? if not is it possible to replace the factory stereo with an aftermarket one? i know in some of the newer cars, some haven't been able to replace the factory stereo yet and i haven't had a close look at the 350's yet so i wouldn't know, thanks in advance
Just make sure that if you buy a Z intending on putting in an aftermarket radio, don't waste money on the Bose system. Once you install the headunit, you'll find you have to gut the whole system and your sub won't work anymore. I just installed a HU on my Z (w/o Bose) and it was a quick install, no problems, but you will have to visit a site like crutchfield to get the dash kit and harness, I couldn't find either at Metra 2 weeks ago. Good luck!
I agree. The Z HU will not play MP3 unless you burn them as audio CD's, and this ruins the point of MP3's.
Avg Audio CD can only contain 12 to 15 songs, while MP3 can put 40 or more depending.
If you are looking for a quick and painless solution, I might suggest an Aftermaker HU with a set of AUX IN RCA plugs. Then decide on an external MP3 player, IPOD etc. Or maybe a Kenwood Keg. made by Phatnoise.com. Cool item. I have a 20GB unit and like it.
I also found a cool piece of freeware from 4amstudio.com that will let you browse and play your MP3s and cover art. I am curently working with it to make a home based juke box, but the same process would work in a car. I wasnt to keen on a "Carputer" until I saw this software. Sometime this spring I will probable replace my keg with a PC.
Considering that a 80GB USB hard drive is under $100.00 I think the best way to go is PC.
Hope a different viewpoint helps.
