That's probably the problem, I have an iPhone 5. I don't have that hdmi cord either, just using the adapter on the iPhone cord it came with.. Wish somebody would have said something when I bought the radio... Thank you though!

I am running this HU with ARLiberator. It took some troubleshooting but now I connect my phone and it mirrors turning the HU into a fully functional 7" tablet. Wow factor? Oh yes. Makes a 3.5 star HU a 5 star (when connected to fresh components and sub )

Sweet! Thats my plan. I got ARLiberator for my android but waiting for my HDMI/MHL adaptor to come in. I wasn't going to buy their 100 plug, that's nuts.
In the mean time, getting my nexus rooted so I can tether it to my xbox to go online live and play games while the GF drives on longs trips! Muahahahahaha

Hahaha, nailed it! That's a great setup. A little advice if I may, read up on installion tips and adapter/bypass/connection tips on the ARLiberator forums it will save you some frustration. After a little troubleshooting my phone now connects and mirrors before I can back out of my driveway.

Yeah, your phone has to have HDMI capabilities. I know older phones can do it like the Galaxy S2 even. Most new phones have what is called MHL a fancy type of video output that charges at the same time.
Oh yeah this HU is really not very good without being able to turn it into a tablet by mirroring. I mean the sound engine is decent and on par with any other Pioneer HU. But there is no CD drive, no card slot it's all about linking your iPod or Android phone. Even then without mirroring its limited. Yep 2.5 sounds about right, but turning it into a 7" tablet it's a 5.

The HU is OK, if using the native pioneer app radio app. The reason why it gets bad reviews are of two main reasons:
1. Lack of app support and app themselves to download - For the most part, they're all not that good honestly.
2. Frustrating or confusion on integration with ARLiberator - people seem to run into an assortment of small hiccups when trying to pair the phone to run the app on the HU.
But the simple fact ARLiberator does what it is able to do on this HU, makes it worth it. Most people think this HU would be **** without ARLiberator really. Think about jailbreaking or rooting your phone, endless possibilities. Especially a way to mirror and make your HU a tablet, tethering, mobile internet, Netflix/Hulu on demand video, etc.

Are the majority of the colors on the HU blue?? I want a HU that can match and look as OE as possible with the Z.
This one is interesting. I have experience with rooted phone so I know I can get through the small hiccups. Im a bit turned off at the fact that it has no CD player lol. Did they really have to omit that?

The hard buttons glow white and the HU let's you pick between 4 or so backgrounds (mostly blue) but if you use ARLiberator and mirror the wallpaper is all you. Can't change color of buttons though.
