Default SAT radio install...

I'm buying a 2006 350Z Grand Touring on Saturday. It has every option I can think so, except satellite radio. I know that there is an interface, tuner and antennae that need to be there for it to work but there is no SAT button. I've read that if there is satellite radio hooked up, pressing the RADIO button will toggle to it.

Does anyone have experience in getting the satellite radio up and running in their Z? I know I'll need parts, but is it even possible?

Thanks again...

Ryan

If your Z’s radio is not “Sirius ready,” you should buy an aftermarket H/U with a Sirius tuner or a direct connection for Sirius/XM.

You can buy an FM modulator that allows a Sirius receiver to broadcast to your car’s antenna, but the sound isn’t that good. I tried it and was not satisfied.

How much are you buying the GT for and how many miles on the clock!? It's hard as hell to find a GT at the right price with low miles.

So much easier to just install an aftermarket HU, and/or an adapter to listen to Sirius/XM thru your phone. I've got a kenwood HU in my '08, and could have bought a sat radio (and antenna) add-on for it, but chose to install a iPhone cable adapter instead (which lets me use Pandora, AOL Radio, etc.). I can listen to Sirius/XM in 3 of my cars using this method, and of course anywhere else, too. It used to be much cheaper to have only an online subscription instead of one tied to a particular radio, but Sirius/XM finally closed that loophole. Either way, the portability is great to have.
