2 channel amp wiring advice
Hey guys I am pretty familiar with car audio and have done my fair share of installs, but up until now I have always used a mono amplifier for my sub(s). Now, I am running a Crunch GPV 1100.2 amp which is a 2 channel amplifier. Here is the page that list the specs of my amp http://www.crunchusa.net/Crunch_VdriveAmp.html I have it hooked up to a Memphis Audio 15-C310D4 which is a dual 4 ohm subwoofer. At the moment, it is wired down to a 2 ohm load which the amplifier is said to produce 550 watts rms x 2. Here is a diagram of how it is wired for reference http://a248.e.akamai.net/pix.crutchf...ch-low-imp.jpg Does this mean that my sub is taking 550 watts rms since it is wired this way? Would it be louder if I was to get a different dual 2 ohm subwoofer, wire it to 4 ohms and bridge it so it would take a full 1100 watts, or am I just misunderstanding how a 2 channel amplifier works versus a mono? Sorry for the long post just trying to figure this whole thing out since this is my first time dealing with a 2 channel amplifier.
