I'm halfway through installing Wicked CAS door pods on my 2006 350z, and there is a major problem. I'm installing Focal PS165 speakers, and when I line them up inside the door pod, they are almost too small for the pod. There is probably a quarter of an inch between the edge of the speaker and the edge of the inside of the pod....
Are these Focals smaller than normal? Or is the pod designed for speakers that aren't 6.5"? Really confused, and the only solution I can think of is to use washers to clamp the speaker on...

too bad. i originally had in mind buying pods from them. i called and asked for the exact measurement. we both found out they were a bit small for my infinity Kappa
6.5". did you take a measurement of your speakers?. not a good idea to use clamps though. you can call them to discuss the issue if your speakers are actually 6.5"

Actually the install ended up working fine. The small amount of space to secure the speaker is actually very strong. At least, I hope so in the long run, I shook it around a ton and it didn't weaken at all.
One thing - the grills that come with these speakers are not circles, they extend out on one side. I had to dremel that side down, which didn't look great but you can't tell if you place the grill so the dremeled side faces down and away from the seat.
