What do you think? (Sub+Amp) Question
Afternoon everyone, i just bought my 350z about 2 months ago and am looking to add some bass to the car. I have an old Amp i would be using. My question is do you think this sub would sound good in the car with this amp
(Sub)-Alpine SWR-10d4 Type-R 10 -1000 RMS 3000 Peak
(Amp)-Memphis MCD-1100 Watt Amp
Any advice would be great, thank you very much!

Sub will sound fine, not really getting enough power though. 2 ohm sub means amp will put out 600 watts. Enough for most subs but that thing is a beefcake.
Where do you want to put the sub? an under strut box from wickedcas on ebay would be my recommendation.

I have last years alpine 10inch type-r in the Z and IMO is one of the best subs for the money; most other 10inch subs cost twice as much for the same kind of power handling as the type-r subs. The SWR-10d4 Type-R 10 you are looking at should have a solid 1000w rms to maximize the sub; that memphis amp will put out 1100rms @1 ohm so make sure you get a dual 2 ohm sub if you are going with 1 sub. The new type-s alpine's are also a great choice and give you 500rms/1500wpeak.
Also make sure you install the sub in a ported enclosure for the most output; I have tried them in a sealed box and they sound ok but just pound in the ported box alpine suggest in the manual.
Here's a pic of my type-r in the Z
