Sub location question
I'm not sure if I'm going to be putting a sub in the Boze location or the hatch. I think getting a box to fit in the left rear location (pretty much over the left rear wheel) would be a more expensive job than in the Boze location. But do you need to dynamat if you put in that location? That would save me $50 on dynamatting bringing the cost between the two a little closer.
Also, thinking of using a JL 10 W0 run by two channels of my Phoenix Gold 4300 bridged. Any other suggestions on subs in that price range?
Thanks

If cost is an issue, then put your subs in the rear and face them towards the back. It creates somewhat of a folded horn effect--the longer your sound wave travels (in this case, reflected off the rear area), the deeper the bass note will sound up front. Having the subs behind the seat (which is what I'm doing), may not have the deepest notes, but the seats will act somewhat as a damper to keep you from hearing the structural movement of the cone--just like in standard truck cabs. The only reason I'm going this route is that I'm designing a stealth install . . .
BTW, dynomat does wonders, but I would also suggest you invest in some sound deadening foam padding. The dynomat will absorb structural flex, but the padding will absorb the road noise, making your system "sound" more efficient.
i have to say that having a box with the subs firing in the rear hatch will sound better than having them in the factory location. my installer has tried all kinds of ways in the factory location and he said nothing was equal to the sound of having a box in the rear hatch.
