Smile Can I install.......

Guys, I have a 2008 Touring model with Bose, no nav and no Bluetooth. Can I simply add the steering wheel controls and add the factory Bluetooth mic to get Bluetooth? I have seen some posts talking about the Bose system having the plug in the back but wasn't sure if this is correct or what else might be needed?

Is the Bluetooth activated through the Bose radio?

Thanks in advance.

No. The factory bluetooth mic is connected to the Bose amp and is powered. It only works with the Bose system. You can't splice into it to use on an aftermarket stereo (I tried).

BTW, the 2008 Touring with premium audio came with Bose AND Bluetooth, so something doesn't add up in your post. You wouldn't have a mic in your headliner if you didn't have the Bose premium audio package.

Nope. I have a 2008 Touring coupe. There's actually a bluetooth control unit that piggy-backs to the Bose amp, if I remember correctly. I ripped everything out after trying to keep the Bose system intact (at least the head unit and bluetooth) using a JL Audio cleeansweep and a signal summing interface. End result was half-assed, so I just took everything out and started clean. I'm very happy with the results. Honestly, the "Bose premium audio" package is a joke on the Z car.

Yes, I have the Roadster and the Bose Premium system but no Bluetooth on the steering wheel and no mic in the headliner. That's why I was thinking I might just be able to add the mic and the steering wheel buttons to activate? Is there a spot on the back of the Bose radio for the mic ?

Thanks guys,

i dont know.. but the stock stereo is horrible. Just buy an aftermarket, you will be much happier.

When I replaced my bose I didn't choose bluetooth for two reasons. 1. I have the bluetooth in the ear. 2. can't hear or be heard clearly with the top down making it useless.

I just use the in ear bluetooth, cheaper and much better sound quality with the top down.

Good Luck.

I'm looking at either the Parrot Asteroid SMART or the Alpine INE-W940. I've heard the Alpine is a good replacement for the stock radio. Anyone heard of how the Parrot Smart radio can be?

Thanks
