I feel kinda bad for asking this question, but I honestly dont know anyone in my area with a radar dectector, let alone a v-1 (which is what I want to get) I live in Northern VA, and goto school in DC -- in which it is illegal to have a radar detector in BOTH states.
My question is this:
I know a lot of people hardwire their radar detectors, but say for someone like me (who might have to quickly stash the detector away under the seat or in the back in case of getting pulled over) I could just clip the detector right below my rear view mirror, then have it plug directly into 12V outlet between the seats right?
I know the wire would be sorta running/hanging from rearview mirror, then down back between the seats -- but it's possible to do this right?
Again, go easy on flames, just trying to get a simple yes or no here...
thanks in advance

Sure you can do that...why not ? If you do not want a stealth install, that is your business, and if you want to be wble to quickly take the v1 down and stash it, that is your only mounting option. Mine cannot be seen from the drivers side, at all, but from the passengers side, its plainly visible behind the rearview mirror.
My 2003 350Z only has one outlet in the back, so the stealth instlal option was best for me. I can quickly take mine down too, as the V1 comes with quick release mounting cups, and a simple telephone plug. I can probably take down my stealth setup as quickly as a non-stealth mounted setup...but its alot nicer not having the wires running all over the place.

Man i live in Northern VA as well and have had my Valentine for almost 2 months and haven't installed it yet. I recommend what many have done with their Z and have it installed in your rear window, passenger side tucked in hood near the brake light. This would need too be hard wired and have the adapter hi9dden in the front. I like the rear view mirror idea or in the space on the dash above the drivers right knee. Having a dangling wire hanging would be fugly, annoying and a red light too cops that you have a radar.

Thanks guys
I'm going to definitely get the v-1, and I'm sure I'll weigh in the different ways/places I can mount it once I have it. Just trying to get an idea of all the different options I have
