Car Surveillance Idea!...................
Hey people...feel free to shoot me down on this idea that I had (I want your opinions):
Here's my idea for a surveillance system.
How about having a small camera mounted inside of the car (maybe struct bar or top of the rear window) facing towards the driver and passenger and parallel to the road so that you can view the outside. Then you buy a small handheld tv (like 4x3x2). Then you buy a transmitter that hooks up to the camera (ouput) and then a receiver that hooks up to the tv (input). Then only problem is that I don't know much about electronics so I'm not sure if there even is a trasmitter that will transmit images for a long distance. The distance that I'm thinking of is pretty far (like half a mile?). This is the key piece that could either break or make my idea. Does anyone know about how far a trasmitter such as the one I'm talking about can trasmit imiges?
Btw, the camera will have an extra battery so that it can work when the car is turned off. I came up with this idea because I have a CompuStar alarm/remote and whenever I'm at work, or the mall, etc I get a alarm saying that someone touched my car. The problem is that I'm usually too far away to see how's doing what. So, with this surveillance system, all you have to do is just carry your small handheld tv with you and when you get an alarm (or just want to check up on your car) you can just turn on the tv and there you go!
Even going further, you could have it so that you can have your camera record for a certain amount of hours buying one of those recording devices (I know something like what's I'm thinking of exists).
So in total, I say this will cost about:
$100 for camera
$ 70 for handheld tv
$??? for both transmitters (say another $100?)
-------
$270 ( about )
Please someone just tell me if this is possible or better yet, if one of these already exists (for around the same price).

i got a wireless camera system in full color for 80 bucks. it transmits a wireless signal from anywhere in your house. it works on batteries or plug in. you could always hook it to your car battery. as far as distance and signal, right now it hooks into my television through a small reciever. the range is about 100 yards at the most i would say...but, im not exactly sure about the max range. you know what you could do is get one of those small motion detectors with the kit for cheap and it turns on when it detects movement. then if it turns on and transmits you know someone is around your ride. here, try this link..... http://www.x10.com/home/offer.cgi?!GLP,../overturekw1b.htm?>wrlsscm:1.05

This is what I was looking for:
wireless camera
It can transmit up to 1,000 feet to a dedicated receiver (L.O.S). So all I'll do is just connect the receiver to my handheld t.v. and that should be it. I also found this other option all together:
Wireless Camera with remote control
