I'm thinking about getting a new receiver in my Z but I don't want to spend a lot of money and I want a double din size to fit in the stock hole.
Is kenwood junk? I was looking at this one

Crutchfield sells the same exact one for 150.00 MORE...what a rip.
Is the 10" sub behind the drivers seat enough to pound some bass if you get a good amp? I don't care about everyone outside hearing me...I just want some nice bass in the car. The stock BOSE, even after the fix just doesn't cut it...seems I have less bass now after the fix then before it.

I've had a Kenwood Z828 for a couple of years now, and I've loved it since day one.
The only problems I've had with it are as follows:
1) Rear mounting bracket for removable faceplate had a small crack on the right side (presumably from shipping) that I fixed with some epoxy.
2) In the extreme cold (sub-zero temps) faceplate sometimes will come disconnected from HU and need to be put back on.
3) Now that It's a bit older, it's starting to skip a bit. However, this is after a major accident in my previous car (I pulled the HU, Amps, and Sub from my old car after the accident and put them into the Z). Also, I'll attribute some of this to the amazingly bad roads in NJ.
As for sound quality, it's very nice, but that's more a testament to the speakers than the HU...
