Default Looking to replace my kenwood dnx7100

Would like to upgrade the headunit, hopefully cheaply, and was hoping for suggestions on which route to go.

My main issues are my ipod nano 7th gen is not compatible. This is my main music source, and want to be able to plug it in directly. ( no bluetooth connection)

Also the NAV is a pain and outdated. For nav, i dont mind using my phone as the source and connecting thru BT

Music needs to play thru my current speakers.

New headunit also needs to have 3 sets of preamp outputs

I was looking at tablet installs in the cubby as well. But im guessing you arent able to connect to my current headunit so my music plays thru them?

But i really like how u can use an app like Torque with the tablet

So any suggestions on what i should do?

I'd start at the Crutchfield site and filter the available head units by the features you're looking for. I've never seen a more informative site, and you may be able to find a newer Kenwood that doesn't require too many changes in the wiring.
