Will the PAC ROEM-NIS2 work with aftermarket amps?
Installing a Kenwood DDX470 on my 2003 350Z with Bose (no navigation).
From what I've gathered from the forums and other resources, it is necessary to purchase the PAC ROEM-NIS2 harness instead of the Metra/Sosche in order to use the factory amp. I understand that.
My MAIN question is: If I choose to upgrade my amp and component speakers down the road, will the PAC ROEM-NIS2 work or will I have to replace it to the Metra/Sosche harness? Anyone ever run a setup like this?
My background in electrical engineering is telling me it will not work, but perhaps the PAC sets the gain independently of what it is connected to (and it just so happens to set it to match the Bose amp which is why people buy it). If that is the case, then would have to purchase an amp that mimics the specs Bose?
I know there is a million threads relating to the stupid Bose system, but I haven't found anything on keeping the factory amp and then LATER upgrading it while running the PAC both times.
Thanks for the help all.

The PAC module is only necessary if you're running the Bose speakers and/or Bose amp. The PAC changes the ohms to what Bose uses.
To answer your question, if you use the aftermarket HU with the OEM Bose speakers and/or amp, you'll need the PAC module to convert the 4 ohm signal from the Kenwood to the 1 or 2 ohms that Bose uses.
If you later switch out all the speakers and amp, you no longer need the PAC module to convert the ohms. The Kenwood will use the standard 4 ohm load that typical aftermarket speakers use. You'll need to take the PAC module out in order for the new speaker to work correctly and keep using the Kenwood.
