Stock Bose Disassembly
The Bose changer in my new ZR is all screwed up. Displays Press Eject but won't eject a CD. It's loaded with my fav 6 disks and the dealer says the whole thing must be replaced and it will take weeks/months IF Nissan will actually return the disks.
You folks that have pulled the stock unit and replaced with aftermarket, how hard would it be to disassemble the thing enough to get the disks out of the changer. The dealer says it's a 'sealed unit' but I'm not sure I buy that.
Anyone have any thoughts on this??? Any help is appreciated!
Thanks.

I'm holding the unit in my hands right now, had an aftermarket put in today. I'm no techie but it doesn't look sealed to me. Seems to me the disks are housed in the upper portion and theres several screws to remove. Hopefully its that simple but it seems you could easily take this apart with a screwdriver.
Just shined a flashlight thru the holes in the top and I can see where the cd's would sit..would seem with the removal of a few screws you could open the top and voila.

take another CD, insert into changer, poke around. should dislodge it, Ive heard this problem before. havent had it personally so Im iffy on the details, but its fixable, and not by opening it, which Im sure is possible.

When I had my lexus IS300 with indash 6 disk the same thing happened. I took it out and was able to open it up and dislodge the cd"s. I say give it a try, worst can happen is you buy a new stereo.
You may be right but I'm not an audiophile and I really like having the changer in the dash (if the damned thing worked) more than killer sound quality. But, I may become a convert.

the best way is...
go to a local hardware store, buy a hammer hit your bose really hard and yell (or scream) how much you hate bose system.
then upload movie clip of those with your paypal account.
i'm sure people will donate some money and you can easily buy your favorite 6 cds again.
i wil donate 5 dollars if you do that.
