Default Why buy a screen when u get a laptop?

I wonder why we buy a screen for our car when we can buy a small notebook with DVD player at near the price and with the benefit of not only using in our car but also anyplace we feel like it.

When i say near same price, its because my company is subsidizing. So my option are:

Notebook US600++
Car screen US500++

If u were me, would u rather go with the notebook?
we could just install a holder.

That'd be the rational thing to do but you might as well ask us why not buy a civic, have more cargo space and save money instead of getting a z?

What fun would that be?

I think one of the things that hit home with me on a DVD system installed inside the car is the fact that you can have an awesome sounding stereo system hooked up to it.

I'm sure you could hook up your laptop to the car's sound system but wheres the tuner credibility in that??

Well this system does give 5.1 output..

if any laptop don't have it.. now there is actually a USB sound card which does that specifically for that purposes with great sound.

I agree with 35oZephyR. It isnt very cool to have a laptop sitting on your dash to watch movies. Frankly if I saw someone doing that I would think they were an idiot.

It is all about integration. Part of customizing a car is to have a finished product. Installing a screen in the dash looks complete, it looks factory, like it was supposed to be there. If you install a bracket to mount your laptop in your sports car it will A. not appear factory B. make people think you can't be away from you computer.

If you just care about functionality and not about looks go ahead and get the laptop bracket. But, if this is the case wouldn't you be driving an STI or an EVO?
