Default Need help "tuning" my new system...

Hello everyone,

Just installed some new stuff and need help tuning the amp and HU.

Got Diamond 661 components for the front, stock for the rear, Sony 4500X HU, with a Phoenix Gold Tantrum 600.4 amp. Two channels are going to the fronts. The HU is pushing the rears. At some point I'm either going to run the other two channels to the rear or bridge them and run a sub, but for now I'm leaving it.

The question is, how to "tune" the amp and HU for best or preferred sound? I was playing with the dials on the amp, but I didn't want to hurt anything so I though I'd ask before doing anything.

The Hpass and Lpass on the HU are off. The amp is set to minimums on everything. I don't know enough to know what dials I can play with and not hurt anything.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Set your input select to "R"

If no subwoofer:
Front config: BY
Rear config: BY on top, BY on bottom
Freq: not matter

If subwoofer on rear channel:
Front config: HP
Rear config: LP on top, BY on bottom
Freq: depends on what you like.

I have my sens and bass set to the lowest. I control the volumn of each channel and the bass gain thru my HU.

I don't have the same equipment, but my sub is set at 100hz low pass (probably a bit high but it sounds the best by my ear--set it no lower than 80hz) and the full ranges are set at 100 hz high pass. It's faded a little bit forward, and all EQ settings are flat (my h/u has an automatic equalizer in it that I used to get a flat response). My sub amp is set with no bass boost at all, and is matched so that it increases volume proportionally to the full ranges, and isn't overpoweringly loud. The "Loud" button is off because it ruins the sound of a good system.
