Default Compartment Behind Drivers Seat Enthus. Non Bose

Anyone know what is in this area in the Non-Bose Model.. The spot where the Bose speaker normall is?.. If its empty why didnt they give us an extra compartment?.. Seems logical doesnt it. If it is in fact empty can I install a Basslink in there?.. I would have to buy the bose cover I guess to let air through.. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Lots of room in there. I have seen some folks put bass links in there. You just need lots of damping material.

Just pop the cover off and you can see all kinds of room. That metal plate comes off.

I used it to put my amps in.

GL!

There is a lot of room behind the cover. I also used it to hide 2 amps. No use trying to custom fit an enclosure in it unless you are trying to do something special. You'll end up spending a lot of time and money and probably won't be happy with the results.

Does the cover just pull off, or do you need to take more stuff apart? I never figured that out form the stickies....

zand02max,

I am installing the BaseLink in that location this weekend and had noticed from the pictures on this site that some people did not use damping material in the compartment.

I have no experience with Dynamat and was thinking about going without it. From your post it sounds like I may wish I had used it.

Is the only benefit stopping the rattles?
Does anyone know if this area of the car is prone to making noise?

Thanks,

Jbwii

The panel behind the seat comes off quite easily with a little prying with a screwdriver. You can buy a panel with a grill to cover the space. Link:

I replaced my entire stero system; a JL sub-base is now in the compartment behind the seat. As an aside, it is not the best location for a sub woofer but I did not want to give up space in the hatch area.

I've read about people buying the glove box kit thats on the passenger side and stickting it in the the spot behind the drivers seat. It would be kinda cool to have the extra glove box.

Not too expensive from what I remember.....
