Default Eclipse headunits

Well, right now i'm in the market to get myself a stereo so i am tryin to figure out what kind of headunits to get. I had an alpine in my last car that i absolutely loved (had to leave it in there when i sold) but I am hearing some good things about the eclipse units and i like the way their Double DIN units look in the stock location. I was wondering if anyone knew the pricing on the AVX-2494 or the AVX2404. I was looking at the AVN2454 but decided i don't really need nav, since i would never really use it anyway and usually it is more expensive, however i could be wrong. Someone in another thread said taht the AVN2454 is somewhere around 2200 at a shop taht he went to or something so i figured noe of these two wouldn't be more expensive if they are even equal to the price. Also, does anyone have these units? or have seen/heard them and are able to give me a review on the quality and such? thanx in advance

If you loved Alpine (how I don't know) then you'll go ****ing nuts over Eclipse. Better build quality, better sounding, easier to use, and way more reliable.

this is what i heard, which is why i'm thinking of buying the eclipse unit... anyone know the prices? I can't seem to find them anywhere, i'm assuming the 2494 is going to be about 1500 - 1800 and the other one a little less bcuz of screen size/options.... anyone know for sure or have one of these 2? I might just take a ride over to the shop i went to earlier to take a look at prices

well, i just took a ride over to my stereo guy and boy were my guesses off haha, looks like i'm not going to be getting my 2494 after all... 2999 retail value.... a little too steep in my book, the 2404 runs a little more reasonable 1500 but has a really small screen.... SO i'm probably just going to go back to my alpine dreams haha.... gonna get the Alpine 9835 w/ biolite display and such and then get a 7" monitor mounted in the stock nav spot and wire my PS2 up to it so i can watch DVDs and play games....

Why don't you look into the other Eclipse lines? Are you specifically looking for HUs with a built in screen? I just bought an Eclipse CD8454. I love that HU, so many adjustments to play with. Great unit.

only choice for a 7" monitor is the alpine which is a little $$$ ... Don't rush, maybe you can get the eclipse online for a better price and get your local audio shop to install ...

I actually can't find the 2494 anywhere, i'm thinkin about just waititng and getting the 2454 w/ nav for 2200, i can probly get a deal and get it for liek 1800 but thats still pushin it.... Basically i want to get either a headunit w/ a screen or get a screen + headunit I was thinkin about getting the TME-M760 and the 9835 both of which he said he could give me deals on, 500 for the screen and 400 for the HU brand new, so sounded good to me, just waiting to see how it all plays out... if my old car ever sells i might just spring for what i really want which is the top of the line eclipse unit

I paid 2 grand for the AVN-2454 at good guys. If you do a whole stereo, you can haggle with them for like a 15 percent off (coupon).

Eclipse HU's are not sold online ANYWHERE. You have to buy from an authorized reseller. Online purchases will not be warrantied.

If you want good prices, give this guy Don at Unexpected Creations a call. His # is 732-921-9046. Tell him you were recommended by MacAlert from Maxima.org.

I saw on Ebay, The 2494 brand new for 1200.00

I would recommend Eclipse over Alpine, I have owned Two systems from Alpine. Both awesome but after playing around and hearing Eclipse, I won't go back! Wait till next month,
Eclipse integrated the Avn 2454 with the AVX2494 which will be the AVN 5495 which supposedly will be about 2200.00 It has HDD nav--10 gb, and 20 gb for music, CD/DVD slot and Memory stick for ESN, plus 5volt pre-out.

Suppose to come out on April. Can't wait..
Retail price tag was.. 2300 but I'm sure we can get it cheaper.

I've had Alpine and Eclipse. Both very good, but the Eclipse is top of the line wonderful! I loved mine...even more than the current (and newer) Alpine I have.

Beware though....at least based on technological restrictions a few years back....that Eclipse sacrifices some of the tuner's radio reception for faint stations (capture ratio) to ensure top quality sound performance. Consistently, my stock radio and Alpine will bring in more stations, but the Eclipse is music to your ears.

I'd buy another in a heartbeat if (or when) it'll control an iPod.
