Default Those with amps in the glove box or in the false floor

Do you have heat problems with the amps? I would prefer to use the area for it's intended purpose if possible. If you've installed it underneath the glovebox area then how are your amps doing? What are the dimensions of the amps? I want to go for a complete stealth look. Also for those with the sub enclosure behind the seat, does the vibration from the bass bother you? Would you have done it another way?

I stuck my Alpine 450 Amp in the glove box area, no heat issues its a open enough space. I also tried the sub in the standard location and basicly LMFAO when I heard it, I took it out and had to deal with a small 10" enclouser in the back, just a 30.00 small box rumbles the car pretty good, nice tight clean and no metal vibrations.

Maybe one day I will get a pre-mad enclouser that fits under that z-bar area.

Default Amp

i have the roadster and I did not want to give up my glove box. I have little enough storage as it is.

I tried my alpine amp under the glovebox. It didn't really fit. I could have made it fit, but there would have been no room for soundproofing and no air space for cooling.

I ended up putting it BEHIND the glove box. There is a lot of room behind the glove box for an amp (or amps) and there is plenty of air space for cooling.

Check it out here:

I also have a roadster and a jl 450/4 amp on the way. If you look in those pics, you'll see a nice slope down into the compartment behind the glovebox. My plan is to mount my amp on that slope so that the controls and connections are tilted up through the false bottom hole in the bottom of the glove box. I think having the heat sink fins pointing back in there should be fine. Not sure if it will work, but I'm gonna give it a try.

My amps are also in the stock sub location- a JL 300/4 and 500/1. I have zero overheat problems, but I haven't tried it during the summer--I didn't do the install until last September or October. They are mounted on an aluminum frame (amp rack) that bolts, in the front, to one of the bolt holes for the stock metal sub bracket, and in the back, to those little tabs that hang down from the "roof" of the stock sub area. The stock sub area is a perfect place for stashing electronics: They're protected from moisture, sunlight, and sight, and are still easily accessible if you wish to make adjustments.

I've got my JL 300/ and 500/1 in the compartment behind the driver seat and i've had no problem with overheating the amps, even in the hot a$$ Miami summer. (I did MELT both of my subs though before i got tints from my car sitting under the sun).

Right on....I was born in Hialeah but grew up in mostly in Carol City. I'd like to move back to the Fort Lauderdale or NMB area.

I had my amp installed in the compartment behind the passenger seat; it takes up the entire "floor" of the compatment. No heat problem to date but let me get thru a Sacto. summer before saying its not an issue.

I also had a sub installed behind the driver's seat. I have not noticed any vibration.
