Default Need component speaker suggestions!

Currently, I have a pair of crappy Infinity Reference 6.5" components up front. I was on a budget at the time of install, and they are just toooooo bright. Hardly any midrange, and the tweeters are HARSH.

Originally I had tried to fit a set of Alpine Type-R 6.5" up front, and they would not clear the window (I know others on here have them, and I don't understand how they fit...) I am using the stock Clarion surround as my "spacer" .

I need suggestions, with a budget of $200 or under. I need something that will FIT, and I won't have to make custom spacers, or mounts.

These will be powered with my Alpine MRV-340 (currently 55w/4 @ 4 channels, but I am thinking of bridging the whole amp to just the front... possibly getting a Basslink to replace my single JL 10w3)

Call Crutchfield and buy a set of spacers from them. I got a set and they allow clearance and a little room to tweak the speaker location.

I'm not so worried about the spacers ... the post was asking about SPEAKER replacement. I'm not satisfied with the crappy Reference speakers.

Some I have been interested in are:

Diamond Audio M3 or HEX series
Focal 165v Slimline
CDT EF-61CF
...

I am going with focal. If you build a set of spacers you wont have to even go with the slimline.

Also bridge your amp but buy another amp for your sub. The bass link will pale in comparison to the w3

The cdt's sound great. Nice laid back tweeter response, very smooth upper midrange and the ability of the midbass driver to play well into the tweeter range make for a nice soundstage. And they fit using the clarion spacer.

If overly bright tweeters are your concern, I'd suggest MB Quart's Discus line DSE 6.5" separates. Very good bass response, superior crossovers and the tweeters are smaller (1/2") than other MBQ speaker lines.

They should work with your spacers and are available for well under $200 from any number of vendors. Just be sure to bridge your amp forward and supply the DSEs with plenty of clean power to work their magic!
