Question Who here has Escort ZR3 Shifter

I think I am about to buy one to complement my 8500. Has it saved you yet? Would you buy it if you had it to do all over again? Where did you mount the front shifters? Bottom of the top bumper opening or on the first grill slot?

I have been wanting one for a while and just know if I wait too much longer I will get nailed. What really encourages this purchase was seeing numerous stops this weekend. I don’t constantly speed (as I used too), but I do get the urge to pick up the pace for short sprints every now and then.

I installed mine about 3 weeks ago. Saved me twice so far. (was doing about 85 in 65) I commute 120 miles round trip daily through numerous speed traps.

Yes I would purchase this product again. I installed the 2 front shifters in the middle grill slots. They are behind the Street Scene grille (confirmed with Escort that as long as the grill has holes, it will function properly)

Definately works, more than happy with it.

Saved me plenty. I have the SRX model.

I mounted them in the stock grill on the extreme upper left and extreme upper right rectangular slots.

The display unit is not needed if you are linking to the 8500, all the controls and alerts will be shown through the 8500.

I mounted the control module under the steering column, but there are many options.

Intall is no big deal, just running cable, etc. For the rear sensor, there is a grommet inside the car (right behind the liscense plate) that you can use for the back sensor. Real easy. Others have used the left tail light.

I mounted my control module behind the climate controls because I don't really need to see it as I have an 8500 and it controls the shifters.. I tapped the front cig lighter for power and grounded the module to one of the shifter bolts.

The install was laborious.. you have to pull a lot of panels to route the wires... and if you want to drill the front diffusers into the aluminum brace, you'll have to take off the front bumper too.. All total, it took me about 4-5 hours spread across 2 days..

i read a few threads where they just mounted the front shifters to the grill using 3m tape, I think that is the route I'll go, and try to secure it a little more. I have a V1, so i need to use the display module. after seeing the control module, it is small so i think i can put it under the dash on the passenger side and use the cig lighter power. Then route the wire for the display up the side arms and the headliner and mount the display on the roof above the rear view mirror...hopefully that will work out. Gonna do the install while doing my stereo, so i have to pull all the panels off anyway
