Default Stock HU wont turn off

Yesterday my stock non bose HU started acting up. When you turn off the car and remove the key the radio continues to play for 15 - 30 seconds. The volume stays where it was when the car was on.

All of my components finally arrived and I am getting ready to replace every piece of the sound system anyway, but is this something I should have checked out before I do the install?

I am sure that installing a new unit will void my warranty.

Just to recap: I am standing outside of the car the key is in my pocket and the door is open and the radio is blaring and then magically shuts off.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,
JBWII

It sounds like your door pin might be acting up, or maybe your BCM. The radio works like this - You turn the car on and the BCM outputs a signal to turn the radio on. This signal continues until you turn the igniton off AND open the drivers door. The HU doesn't monitor this stuff itself, the BCM does, the radio just knows to be on when there is voltage from the BCM.

What I would do is check your dome light and see if it is staying on for extended periods. Also, play with the door pin (its right there when you open the door). Make sure that as soon as the door opens the light comes on. This is the sort of problem that might continue on to your next HU...
