Fuse question...
I just picked up a Monster wiring kit for my new amp... but it's got this type of fuse in it:
Question #1: How the hell do you use this? Do you have to cut the loop and patch in your power?
Question #2: I usually use this type of fuse, is there a quality difference? Both are 30A fuses.
Car stereo for dummies! Thanks for the help

Cut the loop on the fuse holder. Crimp a ring connector, or whatever type of connector is necesarry to connect to your battery. Then, use the supplied butt connector to crimp the fuse holder to your power wire. It may be beneficial to NOT cut the loop right in the middle, as that seems like the logical thing to do. If you cut the loop about 2" away from the fuse holder it will give you enough room to crimp the butt connector onto the 2" piece of power wire and then give you more power wire between the fuse holder and the battery.
This type of fuse holder is waterproof, and uses a cheaper, more readily availible fuse type. It has limits of ONLY being able to go up to 30 amps, and over time it may corrode on the inside, depending on how much water gets to it. However, just yesterday I had to mess with a fuse holder that has the two screw caps on it like you are used to using. Over about 2 months one cap cracked and lost its ability to tighten down. This caused the system power to go in and out once it warmed up. These fuse holders cost about $0.80 where the bigger ones cost about $8.00.
