Default Kenwood DDX-7015 Broken; Error 67?

I have a DDX-7015 installed and it's been working perfectly for about 6 weeks now. (Awesome HU btw, love it) But the other day I went to eject the dvd and.. nothing. The screen didn't come down and the dvd didn't come out. "Error 67" was reported on the screen. :-( The screen wouldn't tilt to any of the 6 positions either. Everything else (tuner and nav) seems to be working fine. I tried hitting the reset button and even disconnecting the battery, but no dice.

Does anyone know what might cause this or how I could go about troubleshooting it? Any ideas what error 67 is or where I code get a list of the troubleshooting codes? Any help is appreciated.

BTW, I bought it from an internet retailer new for about $1000 which is below retail so I don't know if the warranty will be honored or not. Anyone had experience getting Kenwood service with or without buying from an authorized retailer?

Thanks,
~John

sorry bro, there is no factory warranty if purchased from anyone other than an authorized kenwood dealer, especially if its an online purchase. Your only bet is to pay for the service out of pocket.

thats what you get from buying it online. I sell this stuff and argue with people everyday on the advantages of buying it from an authorized dealer.

Yep that is the disadvantage of buying on-line. You win some and lose some.

I just can't see paying 30-50% more at a local outlet when you can get the same exact thing on line and pay no tax. Its a gamble you take though.

I bought my entire stereo system on line, saved thousand's and have had no problems. Had most of the componets for over 3 years now.

My suggestion would be to call Kenwood up or go to a local retailer. They might be able to help out.

I bought my Pioneer AVIC-N1/DVD/Nav unit on line and saved over $700 bucks versus the Rip off prices locally.

And guess what, I registered the product with Pioneer, and they sent me a NAV upgrade disc and a free CD visor holder.

GL, hope you get it fixed. Where did you buy it on line? You might want to give them a call or an e-mail.

Yeah, I didn't find any of the error codes in the manual. I haven't found anywhere that sells the service manual for it either. It could be something simple like the dvd got stuck somehow.

Heh, I actually may have to do this. I don't see my self paying another $500 or whatever to get it fixed or, even worse, another $1k for a new one. Kenwood will 'support' my purchase one way or another.

Try disconnecting the head unit from the wireharness. Its a different way to reset the unit. Hope this helps!!!

Make sure there is no obstructions on the way. Is it making any noises when it tries to open at all. If so then there is something causing it to jam, Take th eunit out and loosen the side screws a little, reset it and try it outside th edash. You may need to help it first with your hand. Once it resets it should be ok.

Thanks for the suggestions blackmumba, 350Mark, and Nazar. I will try them when I get a chance and post the results. I hope it does turn out to be just a stuck dvd.

Thanks,
~John
