Default Just installed 10W7..suppose to get hot?

Hey everyone, i just installed a 10W7 with a 500/1 JL amp, and for some reason the ring around the sub is always getting hot and sometimes gettes very hot, i was wonering if this is normal or if something is wrong also how is the subwoofer suppose to be wired to the amp because my installed wired the 2 wires to the + and - that are both farther out on each side, and i think its supose to be just connected to the fartest - and the inside + thanks and i hope u understand my problem!

As far as how the wires are hooked up to the amp. It doesn't matter which configuration you go with as long as one is hooked up to the + and the other is hooked up to the -. The 500/1 accepts up to 2 + wires and 2 - wires but no matter how you hook them up, the subs will still be playing mono and still get around the same power regardless as long as you are witnin 1.5 to 4 ohms.

As for the silver ring around the 10W7, it should not be getting hot unless they are exposed to sunlight.

Did you go sealed or vented? Either way I am sure it sounds great!!

BTW to adjust the input sesnitivity properely i need a test tone CD at 0db and 40-50hz can any make me a track like that? just needs to be about 40 seconds long. thanks!
