Stock non bose HU, basslink, amp setup
Guys,
Just want to confirm if the configuration is correct with the way I setup.
I have a nonbose HU. Also, I have a basslink. As of now, I tapped (splice) the rear speaker to get the signal for the basslink.
I would like to add an amp to power the front and rear speakers, therefore I will need the LOCs (line converter). I will continue to only use the rear speaker wire to get the signal for the basslink. Is the location of the tap (splice) correct? This is before it goes into the rear LOC.
Thanks,
Tony

I'm just curious, but why don't you just get a head unit to go along with all that stuff? You get better looks, sound, and versatility. I had the stock system as well and I just replaced it with the Pioneer DVH-p500mp and WOW, what a difference it made.
manofsteele2003,
I am confused. It is not about the costs of replacing the HU. I live in the LA area and have my share of car breakins. I am just afraid it might happen again. I know some stereo have a pull out face unit. But after a while, it is a pain to just remember to take it out.
Did you ever use your stock HU with an amp? If so how does it sound? Was you a non bose?
Thanks,
Tony

Yeah I had the non-bose system. I see you have a good point about the theft deterent part. I have in the past had a stock head unit with an amp, not on this car though. It sounded pretty good, cept you can't do all the fine sound adjustments you can with an aftermarket head.
As for remembering to take off the face of the unit, the one I have beeps after you turn off the car, reminding you to take it off.
Just be careful where you bump your system. My friend had a similar set up and they must have followed him home or something, but his entire system was gone the next week. The point is if they hear you bumpin, they know you got something.
