I was looking at these 2 units trying to decide which to go with and had a question...

How distracting is the lit up display at night?

I am on the road a lot at night and was worried about eye strain that could be caused by a fully lit screen sitting in my peripheral vision.

 

I have the DDX and you can turn off the display completely in a black out mode and only the main buttons on the sides of the radio on.

 

I would be more like eye distraction.
Both units dim when you turn your headlights on.
