Default 2 12''s

Hi, this is my first time and please dont get frustrated due to my lack of knowledge about this car. I just got my Z 3 weeks ago and had 2 12''s from my RX, so i was thinkin of makin a box and sticking it in the little space between the rear storage area and the thing that has the Z symbol in the back. Sorry, i warned u though. lol, please if anyone can tell me how to either make one or if its impossible to do so, then i guess i'll have to get 10''s. thanks.

Well, the best thing to do if you don't know how to make one and your not up to the challenge is to have someone else do it.

2 12's are possible but I've yet to see them.
Do a lot of research on it before you start buying things.

Anything is possible, so go for it. I just takes time and money.

Check this out.
http://www.activetuning.com/pat/4/7/

They are using 1 12, but it might give you some ideas.

I'm going to start making a box for 2 10's this weekend. I currently have 2 10's in small truck boxes in my hatch because I couldn't decide which way to go. You know "sub in the original compartment", " sub in the spare tire area", "sub under the rear strut bar".
I wanted to keep the spare tire but my amps took up the original sub area. I'm going to keep my spare and put the subs under the stut bar area.

Anyway. I hope that this helps.
Thanks.

(2) 12's here. Only downside is you lose the spare.

Yeah, well i dont want to lose my spare and thank you both for your input. Actually what i was thinking was that i would put in the subs with the back end facing out inbetween the strut bar and the storage area, i have audiobahns and the chrome flames look really nice, and then put the amp underneath the strut area. This way i dont lose my spare, even though it isnt a stealth install it will look awesome. Im going to ask around and the box doesnt look to hard to fabricate, the only thing that looks hard is that fiberglass and making it look real nice, but other than that it looks pretty simple. Your probably shaking you head no, but of course i will be leaving posts and hoping that anyone can help me out during the process. Thank you again.

what's the model of the audiobahn subs? lanzar has built sub enclosures to house 3 jl 10w7s. i believe it's sealed. shoot him an email or pm. all that i'm woried about is the height of the subs required. not sure if it's going to fit under the strut. you should have enough air space needed for 2 12s.

About the kind of subs, im not exactly sure, they are the ones with the chrome flames in the back, i dunno maybe all of them are like that. Thanks MIAPLAYA but i dont want to cover up my spare. I was thinking about putting it between the strut and the storage area. I'll post a pic of them like mocked up pretty soon. thank you, sorry about the late post. Hurricane kind of messed up the power down here. thank you again.

It makes the whole back end of the car completly useless. If he kept the spare tire, it probably takes 2 people to take the subs out to get to it.
If its a show car, thats cool. But a daily driver..... I don't know about that. Questionable at least.
I gotta have room for the golf clubs and the laptop.

i've used all available storage, minus the pass seat, for stereo. no spare, no golf clubs, groceries go in pass seat.

Actually they are W0s so they dont wiegh much and no it doesn't take two people to get the box out. If you look closely there are two tabs on the cover plate that removes that piece and then I put blocks on either side of the box to make it even easier to lift. No it has never crakced that hatch. Does it hit hard...oh hell yes. Ask any of the SD Z members who meet up on Tuesdays. With 250 watts pushing BOTH subs its hits REAL nice. My car is a daily driver. Do I go get groceries in it....not usually. If I do I can still fit a shopping carts worth between the seats and rear strut bar or in the passenger seat. I also have a truck so if I really need that much space I use my truck. I don't golf so no need for room for those. I have never put anything in my Z that I needed to remove the box for. I mean I fit my Hotchkis sway bars in there without removing it when I was driving to my buddies garage. And yes the spare is still in there. The box WITH subs only weighs about 65-70 lbs. I like it cause it looks nice, and is still easily removable should I get a flat ot go to the track.

MDF 3/4" the box is smaller than it looks in the pic. There is a trim plate over it to make it fit the whole space.

MIAPLAYA, can you show me a pic of the box outside of the car, or even better if i can get the dimensions of the box. ITs really nice not to lose the spare tire. I'm a student so i really dont need the space, but as u stated, its still there if i need it. thanks again.
