Rear speakers needed?
Guys,
How many of you actually used your rear speakers? If so do you amped the rear speakers?
The reason I am asking is I am looking to buy an amp. I am not sure if I should get a 2 or 4 channels. My rear speakers are Diamound Audio m361i (low end-rated 50rms , 100 watts). I am planning to get Perfect 6.1 for the front.
I just placed on order a phoenix gold r 5 mono amp for the sub.

You don't really need rear speakers (rear fill) .. for SQ you normally want the sound stage pulled forward as much as possible.
Some people like them, and to each their own .. but if you don't think you'll notice (you're asking, aren't you?) .. maybe you can save money & spend it elsewhere.

i enjoy my rear speakers. i ran without them for a few weeks, the music sounded like it was missing a little. i have boston acoustics sl65 for the rear. powered by an xtant 1.1.

Easy test
This is a personal choice. I really prefer the sound with the rear speakers added.
Just sit in someone's Z and try it both ways. Fade 100% front. Then try with all 4 speakers. See what you prefer.
I tried running just front speakers for a while as a test. In the end I went back to using all 4. (I have an alpine 4x65 amp and infinity speakers all around, so I think this was a decent test.)

The rear speakers are used primarily for fill. When I swap mine out, I am just going to put a mid in there - no tweeter. The front speakers are way more important for quality.

I agree with AndyB, i have kappa's in the rear and it sounds great ... plus my 9833 does a good job of time correction so i can hardly tell where the sound's comin from ..
