American International dash kit
Guys,
I used the American International dash kit for my Alpine 9833. Do you have to use the spacer that came with it? I did not use my. I didn't seem to fit well. Wasn't sure if it is supposed to be inside or outside of the kit.
The reason I ask is, I am getting some rattles over bumpy roads.
Here is a picture of the spacer ("clip" like). The kit is not for the Z, but I am just trying to show a picture of the clip.

I used this kit for my Alpine 9815 head unit.
Are you talking about the two spacers that go on the interior walls of the kit? I used those. They keep the kit from bending inward after you screw it into the headunit from the sides.

neur0sis,
Yes, the spacers. Do they sit in between the metal of the stereo and the kit (interior wall)? I was going to put it in but it felt tight. But when I left it out and screw it, the kit bent inward.
I guess it was late, so I wasn't thinking correctly. Do you zip ties the wire in the back too?
Is is hard to slide out the stereo? It seems there is something lock to it if I can remember. I am going fix the spacer tonight.
Thanks,
Tony

The radio has a bracket on each side that is connected at the bottom by the white box below the radio. You have to disconnect those screws first. It's still not particularly 'easy' to get the stocker out after the screws are out. As far as those brackets on the side, they are absolutely necessary. Like neurosis said, bends the kit otherwise. Good choice of kit, by the way... Best on the market. I think this kit also makes stereo's harder to steal than if you used the Metra kit because the Metra uses the mounting sleve vs. the AI kit that's iso-mounted. How's the rest coming? I've just finished my glass box for the back and am now redesigning my amp rack behind the drivers' seat. I'll put up pix when I'm done...
