After having mb quart components installed in my z for 2 months i cannot stand them anymore. The tweeters hurt my ears so badly, and i cannot figure out how to fix the problem. Theres some sort of distortion coming through them that is extremely high pitched. It almost sounds like the background distortion you would get with a low quality mp3, but i'm using cds that i bought from a store. Is there anyway to get rid of this? I really dont want to spend even more money on another set of mids.

I was listening to my stereo in my car again with the volume turned up and noticed that the distortion only seems to happen with certain bands that i listen to. It only happens when the guitars are being played. Sounds like the tweeters are picking up on the distortion of the guitars for some reason. Either way it makes my ears ring if i listen for too long.
Your crossover boxes probably have inputs for your spearker wires that say -2 or something like that. Hook them up there. On your HU turn down anything above 1.0k and turn up everything between 163 and 700. (if you have an EQ built in it will look like a bell curve, top of curve being in the middle of the eq line.) If not turn down the treble to a minus setting.
HU is head unit.
MB's are bright and can be somewhat harsh. Like was said, check the X-overs for a -2 db output for your tweets, and adjust your your EQ on your HU.

I have a similar problem with my kenwood excelon components. I was not able to EQ it out and turned my crossovers down to -4. I didn't get a chance to take my door apart to play with tweeter locations as of yet:
